Hi Team I have a Home Hub 4 "A" router with firmware (475183813013213) as of 9/8/18, the hub is now 7yrs old i have read that the Hub is now open to attack due to the age of the hub and the firmware that is no longer available for update. 1. BT Home Hub 4 - Software version 188.8.131.52.184.108.40.206.26 (Type A). The website says this should update automatically, but it seems to me it has never updated at all. I have tried turning the hub on and off and restarting it, any other suggestions?
Re: Home Hub Type A new firmware had mine 23/11, problems ever since, had to delete and re-connect all devices including laptops, xbox and wii, wirless and wired, connection dropping and bt vision freezing on catchup. just done a factory reset (small pin hole button on rear), hopefully that will sort it
Re: BT Home Hub 4 (Type A) Software Version... Totally agree Shamus. If BT are reserving the right to update the Home Hub automatically then the least they can do is provide info on when an update will be available and what it addresses.

Not sure what a Hub 4R is, but assuming Hub 4 of some kind, BT's Neil McRae in the October 2016 UK IPv6 Council - BT Update stated that Hub 5 and Hub 4 will see IPv6 enabled in early 2017.. In his talk, Neil stated that it would likely be Hub 5 first and Hub 4 second as there was a "big challenge" and that the software on Hub 4 says needs a lot of work to make it work with IPv6.
· Information on this page also applies to the 'Plusnet Hub One' and 'BT Business Hub 5' There is also a type B based on BCM63268, but for 802.11ac it uses the BCM4360 which has no open drivers, so it's a far less attractive target.
